Student Wellness Program: Nurturing Thriving Students and Schools
Imagine a world where every young person not only learns but truly thrives in their studies, relationships, and entire life. This vision is the driving force behind The Student Wellness Program (SWP) at Student Wellness STL.
We're passionately dedicated to empowering students, families, and schools by providing the essential insight, language, knowledge, and support needed to fully grasp the vital role of mental health in a child's development and education. By fostering a mentally healthy student body, we create a ripple effect, helping schools build more focused, positive, and productive learning environments for everyone.
How do we make this vision a reality? We offer:
Proactive Mental Wellness Screenings in our partner schools to identify needs early.
Personalized Referrals to a network of trusted mental health practitioners, ensuring the right fit for every student.
Dedicated Case Management that provides ongoing, tailored support, wrapping around students and their families every step of the way.
Through the SWP, we're building a foundation of well-being, helping every child reach their full potential.

Adolescence 101: Preparing for The Journey Ahead
Adolescence is a pivotal time, not just for students, but also for parents and guardians. The shifts can feel overwhelming, and when you're in the thick of it, identifying available support can be challenging. That's why Student Wellness STL created Adolescence 101, a unique program designed specifically for parents and guardians of 3rd- and 4th-grade students.
This program will equip families with vital insights and information about the upcoming developmental stages of adolescence, helping them feel more prepared and confident to parent their soon-to-be adolescent. They will also connect with valuable resources that will empower them to navigate both the challenging and the wonderfully normal moments that often feel overwhelming. Offered at least four times throughout the year, Adolescence 101 builds upon itself, ensuring you have continuous support and knowledge as your child grows.
Adult-Focused Programs: Supporting Students by Supporting the Adults in Their Lives
At Student Wellness STL, we firmly believe that a student's thriving is directly linked to the well-being of the adults in their lives. That's why our commitment extends beyond direct student support to empower parents, guardians, and the dedicated school professionals who are so crucial to a child's development.
In addition to Asolscence 101, we offer a comprehensive approach designed to support these vital adults. Our services include essential psychoeducation to deepen understanding, practical coaching to build effective strategies, and critical connections to mental health support whenever needed. We also partner closely with schools, collaboratively designing and delivering programs that are specifically tailored to the unique needs of their students and the adults who guide them.
When the adults in a student's life are supported and thriving, students are better equipped to learn, grow, and truly reach their full potential. Investing in the well-being of our adults isn't just a service; it's a profound investment in the holistic care and lasting success of every child.

FAQs
-
Just like vision or hearing, emotional wellness is a significant factor in your student’s academic success and quality of life. It is offered within the school systems to allow for convenience and to drive the mission of reducing mental health stigma. Equally, it reduces barriers to accessing mental health supports that are present for many.
-
You may wonder whether your child’s emotional struggles are typical or something more serious. A Wellness Screening will help you figure that out. Based upon the screening results, the staff may offer referrals to local community clinicians and/or services provided by the school. It gives you a chance to help your child before emotional needs become severe or, for some, life-threatening.
-
Because we believe screenings should be completely voluntary, we seek consent from both Parent/Guardian and the student. Your child may refuse to participate or answer any questions during the screening. If so, the staff will follow up with the adult at home to discuss other ways we could offer support.
-
Yes, screening is confidential. Screening results and related files will be stored separately from academic records to protect your child’s privacy. If the program staff believes that your child is in some danger or is a danger to others, they are mandated by law to take action and notify appropriate personnel and necessary authorities.
-
Upon completing the survey, students whose answers reveal potential concerns about their emotional well-being will meet privately with a Student Wellness clinician. Together, the clinician and student will explore symptoms the student is relating too, how these symptoms are impacting their life, and determine beneficial next steps for the student.
After this follow up interview, the student will be told their parent(s)/guardian(s) will be contacted to discuss the screening and any recommendations.
-
No one will have access to your child’s screening results other than the Student Wellness Staff. The option to share your child’s screening results or any additional information with school officials, mental health providers, or others will be at your discretion. The Student Wellness staff can share more about releasing this information if so desired.
